After months of testing and refinement, Cicada Research is proud to release the Stainless Steel TX22 FRT, built on an improved geometry that solves the tolerance stacking and durability issues found in earlier generations of FRTs.
When TX22 FRTs first appeared on the market, most designs had a critical flaw — they would quickly wear or damage the striker block inside the slide. To protect our customers’ pistols, we originally produced our FRTs in polymer, which solved that problem but came with its own limitations in long-term strength.
This new stainless-steel version combines the best of both worlds: precision, durability, and slide safety. Each part is carefully finished through a two-stage tumbling process — first in ceramic media to remove burrs and sharp edges, then polished with stainless steel pins to achieve a low-friction surface that ensures smooth operation and minimal wear.
Unlike the Big Brrt file, this file was designed (by ODD MFG) to reduce slide wear and improve performance. Tested for consistent fitment across the wide range of Taurus TX22 pistols. The result is a component you can trust — engineered to perform reliably, built to last, and made by people who care about getting it right.
The Big Brrt FRT was fine in plastic, but it's known to cause extreme slide wear in metal. This new design still causes some wear, so a light trigger finger is suggested. You will see rounding inside of the striker block, but this is consistent with wear from the stock disconnector.
Lifetime warranty.
